Established in 1956
Family Melody was established by Irving Rosen in 1956 as Patchogue Music Center. Mr. Irving Rosen had been the manager of Supreme Radio Service. Supreme Radio Service was a record music, and radio photography store, established in 1946. His son Joseph Rosen and his partner Sandra McNeil took over the business and transformed it into the Family Melody Center you see today. In 1990, when Sandra retired and Joseph decided to begin playing the clarinet professionally, Kathleen A. Zguris took over as the general manager.

Family Melody Center is one of the oldest and most successful music stores on Long Island, being in business for over 63 years! Family Melody Center has become the biggest music retailer on Long Island. The Store attributes its success to its strong ethical values. Family Melody focuses on caring personal service, providing quality merchandise, and keeping a long family tradition of hiring friendly, knowledgeable employees, some who have been with the company for years!

Family Melody Center was established by Irving Rosen in 1956 as Patchogue Music Center. Mr. Rosen had been the manager of Supreme Radio Service, a record/music, radio/phonograph store, since 1946. It was also located in So. Ave.

After graduating from SUNY Potsdam and teaching public school music for four years, his son Joseph took over the business in 1966. He and his wife/partner Sandra transformed it into one of the largest music chains in the NY area with 5 stores in Nassau and Suffolk.
Kathleen A Zguris
Meet the Owner
When Sandra McNeil retired, and Joseph Rosen began performing on the clarinet again in 1990, the store was sold and Kathleen Masem- Zguris, who had been with the business since 1973, became a partner, and runs all aspects of the business.
In 2019 Kathleen acquired complete ownership of Family Melody Center. Kathleen spends most of her hours, visiting Long Island School Accounts, Supervising a Large Quality Music Lesson Program, and her store staff.
Kathleen is a graduate of Patchogue-Medford High school. She received a Bachelor Degree from Suffolk County Community College. Kathleen has been awarded as a Recipient for Excellence in Business by the Town of Brookhaven. She is described as, "An Outstanding Business Woman with Unquestionable Integrity, Commitment to her Customers, and Devotion to her Community."
Kathleen is proud to say Family Melody Center is one of Long Island's largest, oldest and most successful music stores. She attributes its success to personal, caring service, quality merchandise and along family tradition of hiring knowledgeable employees, many of whom have been with the company for many years.
